Dearest Family,
This isn't going to be a very long one, not much time. I got your letter today and
there isn't much time left in my Pday.
Anyway, it has been a good week. There has been a lot of extra time for me to study Spanish
and prepare for my lessons now that I'm no longer DL. The extra time my comp and I have had to prepare our lessons
together has been wonderful because we have had more time to practice our lessons
and work out the kinks in our lessons before we have to teach. So our unity in our teaching has been
improving with my release as DL.
One of the lessons I learned and will take away from my
experience as DL is the
following: I want to always
conduct myself in a way which demonstrates my support for the DL, whoever he
may be, through my obedience to all the mission rules. I don't want to give my DL in the MTC,
or out in the field, any reason for concern over me. And I definitely don't want to give him any reasons for
anything but positive reports to the mission president. Being a DL is a responsibility of great
trust from the mission president.
And I want to live in such a way that I am not the source of ANY concern
for either my DL or the mission president.
Anyway that's all I have to say about that. The only other thing I want to add is
"I love being just a missionary." It's so wonderful.
There is much to be learned while serving in leadership assignments, and
many wonderful experiences occur while striving to fulfill that assignment, but
being just a missionary is where its at.
[...many personal notes to individuals...]
Well, I said it wasn't going to be as long but apparently I
lied. We went and got the sack
meal today rather than going to the real deal in the cafeteria and it gave me
quite a bit more time.
Love you my family,
Elder Ostler
