October 12, 2012 [MTC]

Well, within an hour of finishing my last email to you, we received our Travel Plans!

We leave the MTC @5:00 a.m. October 23.  We will arrive at the SLC Airport sometime around 6:00/6:30 a.m.  Our flight to California departs at 8:44 a.m.  We will arrive at the Ontario, California Airport at 9:33 a.m.!

I found it interesting that we are not flying into the L.A. Airport.  And, because our travel plans said, "Arrive at Ontario, CA 9:33 a.m." several Elders in our district were convinced that we are making a stop in Ontario, Canada on the way to California.  It was hilarious.  They literally didn't believe there was an Ontario, California and were beginning to worry about passports and all that jazz.  Myself and Elder K, we being the only two that seemed to understand that CANADA is not on the way to CALIFORNIA, were not able to convince them that there must be an Ontario, California somewhere in the near vicinity of our mission, otherwise we wouldn't be flying there.  It was absolutely hilarious!

Luckily we have someone in our zone from the L.A. area who was able to clear up the confusion for our Elders who had started freaking out about not having passports.  So funny.

Anyway, this travel information means that I will be calling at some point between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Utah time which is between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Washington time.

I know it's pretty early, but when I found this out, it pretty much made my whole week!  It's early enough that my siblings won't be in school yet, and early enough (I hope) that Dad won't be in any work meetings yet!  So that means I'll get to talk to the whole family!  I'm so excited.  I have to idea how long we will be allowed to talk though because it is dependent upon the availability of the pay phones.  And I for sure won't be the only Elder who will be wanting to take advantage of this opportunity to call home.

Well, I wish I had more time, but we are going to be leaving for the temple in a couple minutes.  So I've got to change out of the comfortable shorts and  a t-shirt I'm wearing for p-day and back into my missionary attire.

I love you all!  Oh, I received the letter package about the bike that will be waiting for me when I get there.  But I didn't receive the family letters for this week yet.  Maybe they will come in the mail this afternoon after we get back from the temple.

Your Son and Brother,

Elder Ostler
