December 30, 2013 Email

Well hello there my wonderful family!

I loved getting to talk to you all on Christmas!  That time just FLEW by!  That was so fun!
So I mentioned in the title that this email is going to be quicker than I was hoping.  We had some CRAZY stuff happen this morning that threw us off track as far as our PDAY schedule goes.  The most interesting was when I got tied up in a conversation with a couple I met in the Laundry Mat.  I met the lady and her husband when we dropped our clothes off before going to do our shopping.  They liked me and wanted to do a secret good turn for someone they recognized as a servant of the Lord.  So while we were shopping at the grocery store down the street, they decided to change my clothes from the wash to the dryer for me.  After we had finished shopping and came back to the Laundry Mat was when I learned all of this.  I went to my washer and found it EMPTY!  The immediate thought was, "Yikesters!!!  Where are my garments?"  As I looked around, I saw the couple I had met only 40ish min before. I realized that they had done it out of the goodness of their hearts (they were watching me to see how I reacted).  So I went over there with a big smile on my face to thank them for their help.  They immediately took it as an opportunity to teach me about the importance of service by telling me about how we must serve our fellow beings whether they be white, black, or Latino.  And oh it took so so so so long.  Even though they had already finished their laundry, they insisted on staying with me to help me fold all my clothes when they came out of the dryer.  Normally we drop our clothes in the dryer, run home, drop the food off, get some other things done, and then come back with empty arms to get the clothes.  But the whole system was thrown off today.  It was a nice gesture on their part but it cost us a TON of time.  I would explain the rest of the craziness that stemmed from this one kind act, but I really don't have time.  But it was a fun experience.  And it will be a pretty good referral for whichever missionaries serve in their area.  They were visiting from out of town.

OK....wow this FB thing is going to be crazy!  We are gong to be using it as a proselyting tool starting this week!  I'm excited to see how it is going to be a tool in hastening the Lord's work.  It is going to be awesome!

The work is going excellently here in Boyle Heights.  If I have more time to write about it before I leave and after I finish my college apps then I will.  I know without a doubt that right here is where the Lord needs me at this time.  I love that knowledge.
