Well Hey there Family!
Holy Cow! My short time at home sounds like it's going to be CRAZY! I'm glad you are on top of planning my schedule out for me because I honestly don't think I would even know where to begin getting all that stuff squared away...I've been unhooked from those types of concerns for a while. Woot Woot! Kara will be there! That is awesome! When is she going to submit her mission papers? Is it going to be soon enough that there is a chance she gets her call while we are all at home together? That would be so so cool!
Hmmmm....so concerning your question about the job, Sure! Go ahead and ask about it! I guess it would be best to have several options at my disposal. My real hope is that I can work at the MTC. But because it is apparently pretty difficult to get hired there, I should probably have other opportunities at my disposal as well. As of right now, the MTC is my dream job. I know Jackson sent me an email forever ago about the process of the interviews at the MTC. If I remember right, there were several sets of interview type situations that you are tested on? Is there a way that I could be scheduled to begin that process ASAP after arriving in Provo? Is that possible? Thanks
Oh, i just wanted to make mention of something that i didn't touch on about my bike experience last week in my rush to send my email off. Just like my bike insurance becomes redeemable again by restoring what was damaged and lost through paying the price for new parts and beginning to lock my bike up properly again, The atonement of Jesus Christ can make up for our lazy/careless decisions as we come to him in His way through the process of repentance. The words, "And now I say, is there not a type in this thing?" (Alma 37:45) come to mind as I ponder this experience. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
Yes! We did have a baptism on Saturday. It was great! We even had an awesome turn out for a Saturday morning! After getting baptized, both the mother and her daughter shared their testimonies. It was so amazing to hear their simple testimonies of pure happiness. I think my favorite part from came from the 9 year old daughter R. She said, "I'm so happy the missionaries came to teach me and my family about baptism and Jesus and God. I feel so happy to be here and to be baptized! And I just want to say something else too....I feel like I have been a Mormon ever since I was a little baby...." To me, It was a perfect reminder of where we came from before this life. We literally came from the presence of our Heavenly Father who gave us the opportunity to learn the gospel even before coming to earth. He wanted us to be able to recognize it when we found it through our walk of faith here in this life. I love giving children the opportunity to teach me because they always put the gospel in it's most simple form.
Oh, My companion posted some pictures on Facebook from our last two baptisms and tagged me. So if you want mom, you can go on there and take a look. He also put some other fun pictures on there. There are probably around 10ish pictures that he posted. So enjoy! ....Oh....i just realized it might be hard to see those pictures with us not being friends .....hmmm Well if you want, you could probably ask someone who is still allowed to be my friend (We were only asked to remove immediate family from the friends list) to somehow send you the pictures.
Hey! This is way crazy! Speaking of FB, I got a friend request the other day (i think more than a week ago) on Facebook from a Luis Beltran. I didn't recognize the name or the profile picture, so I ended up ignoring it without even thinking about it too much. Well, I just noticed another request from the same person. So this time, in order to make sure I didn't reject somebody again that i actually know, I clicked his profile to see if I could piece together where I knew him from (was he an old investigator? someone I met on the street? a member from an old ward?). Well, The second picture on his wall was of this Luis guy jammed in between 2 missionaries. It was Jacob Moss and whoever his companion is! Pretty sweet huh? I haven't heard from him in a long while! I sent him another email several weeks ago. I might be sending my emails to the wrong Jacob Moss? Well, tell Sis. Moss to tell him Hi for me! Maybe have him send me a quick email so I can just reply to him?
Well, we have big plans for today's pday. We are going to go play some basketball with the zone and we have a long way to go to get there. We used to be able to make the commute to the stake center more quickly, but there isn't enough space on the bus bike racks for all 3 of our bikes so we are now forced to take the bus and walk instead of take the bus and bike. it makes for some added transportation time. But that's ok!
Hasta Luego!
Yours Truly,
Elder Ostler
