Has Kara been abandoned in Hawaii yet or are you all still over there enjoying the beaches?!? WOW, I cant get my head around the fact that Kara is about to be starting the college life! Tell me all about it!
Well, Interesting news....... drum roll please.
I'm going to be a biking missionary again! Every single Elder in the mission is losing their cars at the end of this transfer... which is in two weeks. It's probable that the sister missionaries will get to keep their cars to use in the evening hours, but even they will be on bikes and buses during the day. We cover two entire cities (Azusa and Glendora) so its going to be a fun challenge figuring out how to make this transition from Car's to Bikes/Bus/Foot. But honestly, I'm kinda excited for it. It's going to be a whole new adventure. I'm sure it's going to be a difficult transition. It definitely means that we are going to have to learn how to plan even better than before, but I am excited for it. Apparently our mission is a pilot mission for this changing over to public transportation.
We are also a pilot mission for something else! IPADS! There are a couple other missions that already are using Ipads, but we are going to be receiving ours in October. I am 100% excited for this. This will be awesome. I can imagine that it is going to make area book keeping so much easier (at the least it will make the area book more readable...I hate having to read horrible handwriting in the area book). And it probably has way more perks that I haven't thought of yet.
Fun Story...
I learned how to catch flies in my hand again! I'm super good now.
We were visiting with a member one time and while we were standing in the kitchen serving food, a fly went buzzing by. The Hermano caught it in his hand, signaled for all of us to be quiet, and then threw it super hard on the ground. I could hear the fly bounce off the ground and then I watched it twitch its last few moments. It was awesome! It inspired me to rekindle me childhood ability to snag the flies with my hands so I could begin killing them in the same way.
Well, I can do it now.
I did it once in front of the members we live with. Hermana P was impressed. But then she made me a deal. "Si comes una mosque viva (not sure how to spell fly...but I think it's mosque) te voy a dar carne asada cada domingo hasta que te vayas de mi casa." Well, it sounded awesome to me! But the only problem was that I wasn't allowed to kill it. It was hard. Too hard. I think she wanted me to make it fly from my hand into my mouth..... impossible! Eventually, I asked the Hermana if i could almost kill it. she agreed. So I threw him hard enough to make him get stunned and then ate him. And just like that, I earned Carne Asada every Sunday until I leave the area! I hope I stay a long time.
She invited several people over from the ward for the Carne Asada we had on Sunday. And of course she let everyone know to whom we owe the honor of eating carne asada...."El Elder Ostler quien comio la mosque" For better or for worse, I'm famous now. So far every ward member I have seen or talked to on the phone since Sunday has asked me how the fly tasted. It's going fun over here!
Love Ya all!
