February 11, 2013 Email

Otra Vez, aqui estoy en la biblioteca.  Estoy pensando en lo que es mas importante para compartir porque hay mucho...muchisimo.  Fue una semana magnifico.

But the only problem is, there is limited time to this email deal.  So here I go.

We have two baptisms scheduled for this coming week!  One was supposed to be on Valentines day (they wanted a memorable day) and the other on Sunday.  But, as it turns out, although valentines day is indeed a memorable day, as we approach valentines day, she has realized it wasn't going to work out (school, work, hard day to get people to come).  So she asked us to move it to Sunday.  Now we have two baptismal services scheduled for Sunday which is Elder Rauckhorst's last day as a missionary!  Woot Woot!  What a way to finish.  Back before I had ever had an opportunity to meet Elder Rauckhorst, when all I knew was that he was in his last transfer, his name was Elder Rauckhorst and that he was coming to me for the last stretch, I did some thinking/imagining about how this transfer might go. Even though I knew it was gonna be hard for him to move for  his last transfer, I wanted to do everything I could to make sure it was a positive one for him.  I wanted him to leave feeling like he had accomplished something both in the area, and with me (training me how to be a better missionary).  He hasn't directly mentioned it, but I have learned that these goals I had were also his goals.  He wants to finish strong.  And now, here we are, right around the corner from realizing these goals.  So here we go.

I would really like a GPS.  It will help me be so so much more efficient as a missionary.  Elder Rauckhorst has one and it is awesome.  We put all our contacts in it.  Every ward member (both active and less active) and every person we are teaching.  So when we are in an area and our appointments fall through, we pull up on the GPS the list of who lives the closest.  We have been having a lot of success with this.  There is a lot less wasted time.  So anyway, remember the old silver Garmon GPS we have at home that we never use?  I think we lost the charger cord to it or something like that?  I was wondering if my wonderful mother could pull off a rapid fire miracle for me.  Could you go to some electronic store, find a compatible cord for it, update the maps on it, and send it to me?...like before Elder Rauckhorst leaves please?  If it is before Elder Rauckhorst leaves, we will be able to transfer all the contacts from his GPS to that one.  And that would save me from having to enter every contact again into mine manually (which takes a good bit of time).  So, yea.... its a big request... especially considering the time crunch I just put you under mom, but in reality, if you aren't able to get it to me before Elder Rauckhorst leaves, its all good.  Either way, whether I have to enter the contacts in on my own or not, it will be a major help.  Thanks mom! :)

Also, I had the first experience yesterday where I can actually say I enjoyed SPANISH!!!   It was at stake conference.  I went with the goal of understanding EVERYTHING!  Pretty ambitious.  But I couldn't think of a better one (probably due to laziness of not wanting to come up with a better more specific goal)  At the end of Stake conference, I had only written down 4 words that I hadn't understood.  I looked them up later.  But it was awesome!  I loved it!  I even understood the jokes!  WOOT WOOT! We heard from a member of the Seventy.  He was so funny.  He served a Spanish speaking mission but he didn't say where.  I'm guessing Argentina... but only because its the first place that comes to my mind where the pronounce the double ll with a "sh"

I'm enjoying my reading of the scriptures in Spanish so much more now.  There are actually small details that I pick up while reading in Spanish that I never ever picked up before when I was only reading in English.  So Spanish is getting better.  Much better.  And I'm loving it.

Elder Rauckhorst and I have a Spanish goal this week.  We are gonna speak only in Spanish from the moment we get up until 9pm.  I hope it goes well.  I plan for it to go well.  Its gonna be a stretch.  but it will be a good stretch for me.  And I'm ready for it.... Creo que si ;)  Vamos a ver.  Elder Rauckhorst has awesome Spanish.  So hopefully I can pull all of it out of him that I can before he leaves.

Love You my wonderful family!
